Lactation
Breastfeeding improves the health of the nursing parent AND their babies.
You can see some of those benefits listed here: https://www.aap.org/en/patient-care/breastfeeding/breastfeeding-overview/.
Breastfeeding is most successful when started during the first hour after birth along with skin to skin contact. HealthyChildren.org
There’s no right answer for how long you should breastfeed, babies benefit from ANY amount of breastmilk they receive. More time breastfeeding does bring more benefits.

We will have a conversation about where your education/support needs are prior to an education or post-natal visit session. Options to cover include, but are not limited to: latch and positioning, feeding schedules, pump support, bottle feeding, return to work support and more.
This session is designed to teach you the basics of lactation; from the benefits of breastfeeding through proper latch and positioning. It is 90 minutes of discussion and hands on practice with dolls. This is best done as a prenatal class since the first few hours post birth are an important time in establishing supply and practicing latch for mom and baby.
I will meet you where you are to support you when you need it the most. This session is meant to focus on a few specific needs. Topic(s) will be discussed via needs consult. Sessions are $50 per 30 minutes.
